Extra Terrestrial Music Source

The term ?Italo-Disco? refers to disco music produced in Italy by Italian composers and artists in the early 80's.
Traditionally, the classic Italo sound is made purely by keyboards. The rhythm section is totally electronic. The voice and vocoder are used mainly as an instrument in order to complete the melody - the robot-like disco sounds were considered extremely innovative for their time.

Italo is all about those over-arrangements, accents ? the melancholic style of the ROLAND JX-8 synths, and sounds created by the Minimoog, Oberheim, Emulator II,
all have their place in the history of the music.

At the beginning of the 80's the Italian sound was played in the American gay clubs.
Venues like the Warehouse in Chicago let the music boom.
Italo played a major role in the development of house, with house pioneers like Frankie Knuckles, Mickey Oliver and Ron Hardy playing much of the Italo sound.
Many "old school" Chicago tapes contain plenty of Italo, but it stayed an underground phenomenon in America. However, it gained enormous popularity for a couple of years in Eastern Europe, Russia and Asia, especially in Japan.
